JOA is proud to support The Virtual Doctors, a UK charity connecting healthcare professionals with Clinical Officers in rural Zambia and Malawi to improve access to essential medical care. By offering remote guidance on complex cases, Virtual Doctors helps reduce preventable deaths and strengthens local healthcare systems in some of the world’s most underserved areas.

The service provides a user-friendly app that links Clinical Officers to volunteer doctors. When faced with challenging cases, Clinical Officers upload patient details for review and volunteers respond within 24 hours, offering tailored medical advice.

This opportunity welcomes doctors with GMC or HCPZ registration and CCT (or senior registrars nearing CCT) as well as nurses, midwives, and physiotherapists for pilot schemes. Volunteers will receive support on using the service, and comprehensive insurance coverage.

Applications are open year-round, to apply, email us at enquiries@joa.je

"My name is Akuya Sobana, a Clinical Officer at Manota Health Centre in Vubwi District. Since joining the Virtual Doctors, I have acquired knowledge about various conditions that were previously unfamiliar to me. I now have a better understanding of how to address and manage them. I am eager to persist with using the VDrs app."
